Immingham Shortlisted Projects

Update: Voting closed on Wednesday 6th September - Both shortlisted projects received a similar amount of votes and a decision has been made to fund both.

Outreach Pilot – One Voice

One Voice ImminghamThis pilot project seeks to engage with those young people who are causing issues in the ASB hotspot areas of Immingham through an outreach approach using a team of additional youth workers.  It will identify if there are any alternative diversionary activities alongside the current offer in the town that young people would want to engage in and identify any barriers to their getting involved.

The project will work with young people in the spaces they want to be in, building positive relationships, helping them to understand the impact their ASB is having on the community and equipping them make more positive choices.

GTF@Immingham

Grimsby TownThis project will provide positive diversionary activities for young people aged 11 to 18 years who live in Immingham.  It will provide two activity sessions per week led by Sports and Education Coaches. One session per week will be delivered from the Oasis Immingham Academy, situated on Pelham Road, opposite the Civic Centre, an area which has been experiencing some Antisocial behaviour. This will be a football session which will be enjoyed by 2 age groups, within the hour. School years 7 to 9 and school years 10 to 13. The facility has an outdoor Astro-turf which is flood-lit which will enable delivery all year round.

The second session will be delivered in the other area of the Town that has been identified as having some antisocial behaviour, Homestead Park. Due to the unevenness of the surface, it is not ideal to play football on the park, however, the open space lends itself to other sports, such as rounders. The participants will be able to choose between a wide variety of sports available and will change them around regularly to ensure that participants get to enjoy all their favourite sports.  During the darker months (October to March) this will move into an indoor or floodlit outdoor space.
