East Riding Town and Parish Meetings
Police and Crime Commissioner Keith Hunter begins a month of ‘Meet The Commissioner’ events with Town and Parish Councils across the East Riding of Yorkshire from today, Wednesday 3rd October.
The events will give local representatives, particularly in rural communities, the opportunity to meet the Commissioner, find out more about his work and raise any issues they are experiencing locally.
Debbie Fagan, the PCC’s Engagement Officer for the East Riding organised the events and said: “Our rural towns and villages often feel isolated and can have different issues than urban areas when it comes to crime and safety.
“The Commissioner receives a number of requests to attend council meetings but the East Riding is a very large area with 155 parish councils and 13 town councils and it would take a long time to get around them all. By arranging the meetings into five clusters we hope to engage with as many local representatives as possible over the period of just one month.
“Town and Parish Councils have all been notified and we hope to meet as many as possible in the next few weeks.”
