Vacancy - Administrative Support Officer

Administrative Support Officer (Violence Reduction Unit) for

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), Humberside

Salary: Band F £19,911 - £22,974

Based at The Lawns, Cottingham (agile working available)

This role is hosted by the OPCC on behalf of the Humber Violence Prevention Partnership, a new Home Office-funded Violence Reduction Unit (VRU).

The OPCC has a strong focus on employing people that best fit with the ethos and culture of our team and are looking for someone who will embrace our values of Ambition, Brave, Connecting, Compassion and Trust.

The OPCC is working with partners to establish a new multi-agency Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) for the Humber area, which will lead and coordinate the local response to serious violence through an evidence-based whole-system approach (also known as a public health approach).

We are looking for a skilled and motivated individual to provide a variety of administrative support to our new team and partnership.  The role requires someone who can manage conflicting priorities, work under pressure, and communicate well with a range of stakeholders.

You will need to have good written English and IT skills, and experience of working in an office environment.  Your role will involve developing relationships across the organisation and with external partners, so you will also need to have good communication skills and be a great team player.

Part of your role will be helping to co-ordinate our Board and working group meetings, so experience of organising meetings and taking notes/minutes would be an advantage.

This will be a varied role, so there will also be opportunities to support our team with organising events, communications and procurement processes.

Whilst it would be great to have someone who knows who we are, what we do and who we work with, it isn’t our greatest requirement.  We want the right person.  We can easily give you the context of our working environment. We need the right skillset and values. That is our priority.

We do need someone to be professionally astute, an ambassador for the OPCC and VRU in working with a broad range of stakeholders, confident in their abilities, and able to understand and challenge complex information.

Any experience of working with statutory operating frameworks in a public sector setting would be advantageous.

You will be required to work out of the main OPCC office based at The Lawns, Cottingham, although we work to the ethos of being an ‘Employer of Choice’ and therefore do operate agile working which can accommodate flexible working requests.

If you are interested in this challenging and exciting role, you can get further information by contacting Richard Kendall, VPP Director, or Marie Morgan, Public Health Business Manager, at humbervpp@humberside.pnn.police.uk to arrange an informal conversation.

Should you wish to apply you can do so by sending a covering letter and CV indicating what you think you could bring to the role and how you meet the requirements of the role profile.  This should be sent by email to humbervpp@humberside.pnn.police.uk.  You should also complete the Monitoring Questionnaire and submit with your application.

The closing date for this vacancy is Monday 5 September 2022, 5.30pm.
