Community Safety Fund Round nine

Round nine of the Community Safety Fund (CSF) can provide funding to support projects which involve the purchase and/or installation of equipment and/or assets which will support the reduction in crime and improvement in community safety.

The following types of projects and activities are likely to be ‘in scope’ for this CSF round:

  • The purchase of equipment/assets which will facilitate activities to:
    • Divert people from crime or anti-social behaviour taking place in the local area
    • Support people who may be particularly at risk of becoming, or have previously been, victims of crime
  • Measures or minor capital work to improve the security of community buildings or assets, e.g. security measures, fencing, CCTV, alarm systems. This should not include improvements that are a key part of ongoing property maintenance.
  • Measures to improve the safety of outdoor public spaces, e.g. CCTV installation, fencing.

This CSF round is not designed to fund ongoing revenue-based activities. It is an enabling fund to support the purchase of equipment/assets which can support such activities and for the provision of enhanced security measures for community buildings, assets and outdoor spaces.

Please refer to the list of ineligible activities before starting your application. This includes several activities that are project-specific which we are not looking to invest in due to the potential to duplicate existing or planned activity by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.

The Community Safety Fund can provide funding of between £500 and £35,000 towards projects that meet the scheme criteria and are led by voluntary and community sector organisations, social enterprises or town and parish councils.

To date, over £2.04m of funding has been committed through the Community Safety Fund to support projects that impact on crime and community safety at the local level, with further funding being made available to support the delivery of the Police and Crime Plan (2024-29) between 2025/26 and 2028/29.  This will see an overall investment of £3.35m by the end of the plan period.
