On 7 April Chief Constable Chris Todd wrote to PCC Jonathan Evison to reflect on his first year in the role. The Chief Constable’s letter can be viewed on Humberside Police’s website.
PCC Jonathan Evison’s reply can be read below:
Dear Chief Constable,
Thank you for your open and frank letter regarding the state of play of Humberside Police.
Firstly, I wish to echo your sentiment that the passion, drive and commitment of the officers and staff of Humberside Police in my experience is second to none, and along with our communities here in East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire we owe them a great deal for the work they go out and do every day to tackle and prevent crime and keep us all safe.
I am pleased the actions you have taken to address issues highlighted previously, and potentially in your upcoming HMICFRS report, are showing improvements already. I await the full report with interest.
Looking forward, it is clear Humberside Police is in a strong position, however, I believe we can always strive to do better. On behalf of the rural, urban and coastal communities I represent, my office and I will continue to work with you to ensure our police force delivers the service our residents expect.
Yours sincerely
Jonathan Evison
Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside
